Geoffrey Richings - Bristol UK
Originally trained in the fine arts - I started making violins around 1980 when I started to play Irish Traditional fiddle.
Through the 80's I made and played several violins and repaired many old junkers and a few for fellow fiddle payers. They were not too fussy about their fiddles !
I then had a very long break from it all - both playing and making.
I re-started making about four years ago.
I'm retired now and like to try to spend the summer months
sailing my small cruising yacht.
From the original idea - to the basic wedges of tonewood on the bench - to the finished and varnished instrument - is a remarkable journey that never loses its facination.
